π© Report: Legal issue(s)
Licence of parent model (NeuralMarcoro14-7B) was changed to cc-by-nc-4.0, so license of this model should be changed too.
This isn't true.
Legally if a model originally licensed under Apache 2.0 or MIT is later re-licensed to CC BY-NC-4.0, it does not require that derivative models or projects that used it under its original Apache 2.0 or MIT license to change their license to CC BY-NC-4.0.
I was wrong in formulating the issue.
Original model was licensed as Apache 2.0 in error, is was based on CC-BY-NC-4.0 model (that model was never licensed as Apache-2.0). Since it was corrected.
So in my view to continue distributing the model under Apache-2.0 would be in violation of license.
What model are you referring to?
Also, who are you and why does your opinion matter?
If you want legal issues, I will take this case pro-bono.
Model in violation of license was https://huggingface.co./mlabonne/Marcoro14-7B-slerp. Model EmbeddedLLM/Mistral-7B-Merge-14-v0.1 it derived from was never under Apache-2.
Case it pretty clear. If I take linux kernel, make modifications and share it under MIT license, and someone will create derived work and also share it under MIT, he is not in the clear once it becomes know that somewhere along the line license was violated.
The license chain goes down to:
berkeley-nest/Starling-LM-7B-alpha
Q-bert/MetaMath-Cybertron-Starling
It's legit but I take offense to you spamming warnings in multiple chats like the shadow police.
You're literally acting like some sort of HuggingFace HOA committee member.
Do you think that licenses is something to take lightly? Do you not respect people's wish to release their work under specific license?
Such issues better be fixed early. Or one day someone will deploy derived version for commercial product and it would bite them in the back.
My plan is to flag all models with known license violations and data contamination, as HF staff is unwilling to take action otherwise.
the licence to udkai/Turdus was changed from apache to cc by-nc-sa 4.0 immediately after this discussion was started
so @ifjeakeiq if that's the reason why this model is flagged, please be so kind and "unflag" it, if it is possible
and please stop offending Yourselves here, thank You
