Hey @errrmeson - the model was indeed trained only on Portuguese from Portugal. You can read more about the training objectives and datasets used in the Seamless M4T blog post / paper: https://ai.meta.com/blog/seamless-m4t/

You might be interested in fine-tuning the model, which could enable you to use it for Brazilian Portuguese: https://github.com/facebookresearch/seamless_communication/tree/main/scripts/m4t/finetune

We appreciate that, but sometimes it upset us as brazilians because many companies don't realize the portuguese from those countries are pretty different and ignore that, please, spread this news, thank you. Or promote brazilian influencers in Portugal, what is already happening and they are very upset they children are talking "brazilian" (as they say) hahah.
